Dr. Adelson is a pioneer in laser vision correction. He was one of the first doctors in the state of Michigan to perform the now popular Custom Lasik, utilizing the VISX STAR S4 laser and allowing up to 25 times better vision results over traditional Lasik. In fact, over 98% of Dr. Adelson’s patients are able to pass a driver’s exam after their procedure. Dr. Adelson has been featured on Fox News Live, WGVU radio in Grand Rapids Mi and 95.5 with MOJO in the morning. Dr. Adelson has been a National guest lecturer for ophthalmologists helping to teach refraction surgery. Further, Dr. Adelson is a resident educator at Michigan State University and was one of the first surgeons in the United States to be certified on the new implantable contact lens by Staar Surgical.
The Detroit native earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, and his osteopathic medical degree from Des Moines University-osteopathic Medical Center. He completed his internship training at Botsford General Hospital and his ophthalmology residency at Metropolitan Hospital-Michigan State University. Dr. Adelson has also completed an additional fellowship in advanced refractive (LASIK) and cataract surgery at Michigan State University. Dr. Adelson also has compeleted an extensive course in ophthalmology at Stanford University.
Dr. Adelson is a member of the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Michigan Ophthalmological Society, American Osteopathic Association, Michigan Osteopathic Association and the Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
He is currently on staff at Botsford Hospital, St. John Macomb Hospital, St. John Oakland Hospital, Providence Hospitals and the Novi Surgery Center.
