Dr. Adelson is a board certified medical and surgical ophthalmologist. He is the medical director and chief surgeon of the Adelson Eye and Laser Center in Northville, MI. Dr. Adelson has completed a prestigious one-year fellowship through Michigan State University in laser vision correction and advanced cataract surgery.
 
     
 

This additional year of specialized training is something that very few eye surgeons possess. Dr. Adelson has personally performed thousands of successful vision correction surgeries. With Dr. Adelson’s refractive team, we are able to offer many options in vision correction, technology and more experience to give you an outstanding result with your vision correction procedure.

Dr. Adelson is a pioneer in laser vision correction. He was one of the first doctors in the state of Michigan to perform the now-popular Custom Lasik, utilizing the VISX STAR S4 laser and allowing up to 25 times better visual results over traditional Lasik. In fact, over 98% of Dr. Adelson’s patients are able to pass a driver’s exam after their procedure. Dr. Adelson has been featured on Fox News live, WGVU AM radio in Grand Rapids, MI and 95.5 FM radio with MOJO in the morning. Dr. Adelson has been a national guest lecturer for ophthalmologist helping to teach refractive surgery. Further, Dr. Adelson is a resident educator at Michigan State University and was one of the first surgeons in the United States to be certified on the new implantable contact lens by Starr Surgical.

The Detroit native earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, and his osteopathic medical degree from Des Moines University – Osteopathic Medical Center. He completed his internship training at Botsford General Hospital and his ophthalmology residence at Metropolitan Hospital-Michigan State University. Dr. Adelson has also completed an additional fellowship in advanced refractive (Lasik) and cataract surgery through Michigan State University. He has also completed an extensive course in ophthalmology at Stanford University.

Dr. Adelson is a member of the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Oakland County Osteopathic Association, Michigan Ophthalmological Society and the American Osteopathic Association.

He is currently on staff at Providence Hospital, Oakwood Hospital, Henry Ford Hospital, Botsford General Hospital, Detroit Medical Center-Sinai Grace Hospital and Huron Valley Hospital.

Dr. Adelson has been licensed in the State of Michigan 1997-Present and the state of Florida 2000-present. He has had extensive courses in ophthalmology as follows:

The Detroit native earned his undergraduate degree at Michigan State University with High Honors and his osteopathic medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine-Midwestern University.  He completed his internship training at Botsford General Hospital-Michigan State University and his ophthalmology residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr. Adelson has also completed an additional fellowship in advanced refractive and cataract surgery through Michigan State University.  In addition, Dr. Adelson completed multiple courses in ophthalmology at the prestigious Will’s Eye Hospital, where he worked alongside world-renowned ophthalmologists throughout residency training.

Dr. Adelson is a member of the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Michigan Ophthalmology Society and the American Osteopathic Association.

He is currently on staff at Providence Hospital, Henry-Ford Wyandotte, Oakwood Heritage Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital and Botsford General Hospital.
